Community Philanthropy

The community philanthropy is a community practice that mobilizes different types of capital (local assets) – financial, civil, social, human, political and intellectual – to work on solving the socio-environmental problems of the communities with the purpose of improving the lives of their residents, and with the goal of empowering the civil society in the long run.

The comunity philanthropic organizations develop faculties in the long run, which translate into new relationships, knowledge, infrastructure and leaderships that turn out to be essential for the civil society, and that other short term approaches can not develop.

Specially, the community philanthropy is an efficient way to strengthen the citizen participation and voice. On top of that, it has the ability to help the organizations to take advantage of the leadership opportunities and adapt to the constantly changing conditions of the community, to the new local priorities and to the varies interests of the donors.
